El Arena
Joe, Chyno und Maggie leben in Beirut, Libanon. Ihr Heimatland ist seit mehreren Jahren von
Konflikten, Krisen und einem repressiven Regime geprägt. Ihr Zufluchtsort ist „El Arena“. Dort trifft sich die Gruppe von
jungen Rappern und Freund:innen zu Rap-Battles. Ein Ort, an dem sie sich künstlerisch messen und aussprechen können, was sie
denken. An dem sie auch rote Linien überschreiten, Missstände klar benennen und spielerisch darum kämpfen, zum King of the
Battle gekrönt zu werden. El Arena spielt vor dem Hintergrund der aktuellen Situation im Libanon und gipfelt in der verheerenden
Explosion von Beirut im Jahr 2020.

Chyno, and Maggie live in Beirut, Lebanon. For years, their homeland has been marked by conflicts, crises, and a repressive
regime. Their place of refuge is “El Arena”, where the group of young friends meets up for rap battles. Here they can compete
artistically, with the freedom to say what they think, cross lines, call out societal issues, and playfully fight to be crowned
King of the Battle. El Arena is set against the backdrop of the current situation in Lebanon and comes to a climax with the
devastating explosion in Beirut in 2020.
