The Killing of a Journalist
Im Februar 2018 wurden der junge slowakische Journalist Ján Kuciak und seine Verlobte Martina
Kušnírová ermordet. Darauf folgten in der Slowakei die wohl größten Proteste seit dem Ende des Kommunismus. Diese Dokumentation
verfolgt den Prozess rund um den Mord an dem jungen Paar. In Interviews mit den Familien, Journalist:innen, Anwält:innen und
Soziolog:innen zeigt Matt Sarnecki die Korruption und Ungerechtigkeit in der Slowakei, die Ján Kuciak vor seinem Tod aufdecken
wollte. Der Film bildet ein Andenken an Ján und Martina und folgt ihrem Beispiel im Kampf um Aufklärung und Gerechtigkeit.

In February 2018, the young Slovak journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée, Martina Kusnirova, are
murdered. What follows are the biggest protests in Slovakia since the end of communism. This documentary follows the trial
surrounding the murder of the young couple. In interviews with family members, journalists, lawyers, and sociologists, Matt
Sarnecki reveals the corruption and injustice that Ján Kuciak sought to expose before his death. The film serves as a memento
to Ján and Martina and follows their example in the battle for truth and justice.
