PONGO CALLING
#de Štefan Pongo ist LKW-Fahrer in London. Dass er Roma ist, erfuhr er erst
in der Grundschule in Tschechien durch diskriminierende Kommentare seiner Lehrerin. Für bessere Perspektiven für seine Familie
ließ er seine Heimat hinter sich, doch nicht die Wunden, die mit seiner Herkunft verbunden sind. Er beginnt, Protestaktionen
für die Gleichberechtigung der Roma Community zu organisieren. Zwischen seinem Arbeitsplatz, intimen Gesprächen mit seiner
Frau und seinen Kindern, sowie öffentlichen Demonstrationen, schafft dieser Film ein authentisches Bild der persönlichen und
politischen Aspekte seines Engagements.

#en Štefan Pongo is a truck driver in London. The fact that he
is Roma, he only found out through his teacher’s discriminatory comments in elementary school in the Czech Republic. He left
his home country for better prospects for his family, but the wounds that are tied to his origin remained. He starts to organize
protests for equal rights for the Roma community. Between his workplace, intimate conversations with his wife and children,
as well as public demonstrations, this movie succeeds in painting an authentic picture of the personal and political aspects
of his involvement.
