Once upon a time there was a dark tale set in a small community somewhere in the world. A seemingly normal world silently festering with the sadism of fathers and the anger of diligent, desperate children.

EN: Once upon a time there was a dark tale set in a small community somewhere in the world. A seemingly normal world silently festering with the sadism of fathers and the anger of diligent, desperate children.

Communal dinners, inflatable swimming pools and good grades. At first glance, life in a suburb of Rome seems peaceful and satisfying. But a puzzling mood runs through the housing estate: frustration at mediocrity, emotional emptiness and existential ambiguity alternate at ever shorter intervals, the illusion crumbles and everyone knows - things have to change!
A relentlessly disturbing look at the petit bourgeoisie, where vulgarity, frustration and anger pervade the pale light of summer days. A cinematographic masterpiece for strong minds that was rightly awarded Best Screenplay at the Berlinale 2020.
